SMALL BANDED TEMARI BALL ORNAMENT
Date: Saturday, July 23, 1:00-3:00 pm
Description: Learn to make a simple but stunning ornament based on the Japanese traditional art of temari! Students will learn temari basics: preparing and wrapping the ball with yarn and thread, marking, and finally stitching the ball. These ornaments, approximately 2” in diameter, may be enjoyed year round, but they also make great holiday gifts, stocking stuffers, or hostess gifts, or you might choose to make enough to fill a bowl or basket for a festive and colorful centerpiece on your holiday table. This class will teach a complete small temari ball project, but the skills learned are equally applicable to larger temari ornaments.
Sufficient materials will be provided to work on one or two small ornaments in class. Students may be able to complete one ornament during the scheduled class time, but if not, they will have sufficient knowledge and materials to complete the ball on their own.
STUDENTS SHOULD BRING their own small craft scissors and a pin cushion; small pliers are optional but may be helpful.
