Grand Isle Art Works (GIAW) is open! We are so happy to have old and new friends visiting the gallery. It was a long 4 months of quiet time in our old farmhouse gallery. We have so many pretty things that need to be seen! Currently we are open Thursday – Tuesday, 10-4 pm, following COVID 19 safety rules. We also have a great selection of our pretty things in our on-line shop.
The time has come to cancel our 10th Annual Trunk Show and Sale. We are sad, but feel it is the right thing to do.
The gallery has not been open since March 14th. We have had a few call-in sales (3), not enough to pay the bills. We were able to get a very small amount of PPP money from the Feds to pay our dear employees a few hours a week. We will be doing some yard work and interior cleaning in hopes of reopening this summer. We are ever hopeful.
In happier news, Yellow Dog Farm just had twin baby goats born yesterday, a little boy and girl! We’d love to bring them to the gallery to continue our tradition of the gallery goats!
10th Annual Trunk Show and Sale, July 25 & 26, 2020 will take place from 10-4:00 on Saturday and Sunday on the grounds of the Grand Isle Art Works @ 259 US Rte 2 in Grand Isle. There will be artwork for sale by the gallery artists plus their invited art friends!
A Trunk show = a sale of new or different items. You won’t want to miss this event! We are continuing the “wood” tent with demonstrations and multiple wood artists available to share their many talents!
This is definitely shaping up to be a different kind of spring here in Grand Isle County. The sun is shining, temperatures are great for sugaring and the song birds are returning. A beautiful early Vermont spring must be on the horizon.
With it is the deafening sound of silence as we all cordon ourselves off for home isolation in hopes to ward off COVID – 19. The only places that are active currently are the supermarkets and Costco as folks stock up for the long haul.
We feel it in the gallery. Far fewer visitors are stopping by. Those that do stop are not purchasing items. It is very quiet.
As a small business, it matters that GIAW makes enough sales to keep the lights on and to pay our artists who depend on their commissions from us to keep their lights on. In an attempt to ward off this impending darkness, GIAW is updating its on-line gallery shop. If you need the perfect gift, we hope you will take a look here. If you don’t see what you want or need, drop us a line and we will get it to you. Every purchase will help us to keep the lights on!
Not sure you need anything right now? How about a gift certificate to use later? We offer them in most any denomination and they never go bad. Just want to support a small business in Grand Isle County? We will gladly accept any support you would like to give. These gifts are not tax deductible, but we will offer a 10% off coupon for every gift received.
At the start of a new year, folks often consider making a resolution to start the year off right. Often these resolutions drop by the wayside. What if instead of a full blown resolution, we chose a word to keep by our side to guide us through our many decisions in the year 2020. Imagine a word like DREAM and how that could help support your thinking as the year goes on about the climate, your art work or your activity in your community.
This year, Grand Isle Art Works invites you to consider what your WORD for 2020 will be. As an artist, your job will be to create the essence of this word as it means to you to be displayed in the gallery over the spring / summer. GIAW will host a gallery show and silent auction to benefit several non-profits. Choose one of our favorites or designate your own cause.
Head over to the WORDS page for more information on how to sign up!
