At the start of a new year, folks often consider making a resolution to start the year off right. Often these resolutions drop by the wayside. What if instead of a full blown resolution, we chose a word to keep by our side to guide us through our many decisions in the year 2020. Imagine a word like DREAM and how that could help support your thinking as the year goes on about the climate, your art work or your activity in your community.
This year, Grand Isle Art Works invites you to consider what your WORD for 2020 will be. As an artist, your job will be to create the essence of this word as it means to you to be displayed in the gallery over the spring / summer. GIAW will host a gallery show and silent auction to benefit several non-profits. Choose one of our favorites or designate your own cause.
How will this work?
When you register to take part in WORDS for 2020!, we will ask you to identify your WORD. You will be sent scrabble tiles that can be used in your creation. Artistic creations should be approximately 12×14 inches in size, slightly smaller or larger is okay. You can team up and create a PHRASE for 2020! Your creations can be 2D or 3D! We will also throw in a wooden heart that can be incorporated in your design.

Reserve you place in this timely art show for just $15.00. This fee is used to offset costs for advertising, mailing (if necessary) and materials. WORDS for 2020! products are due to the gallery by May 20, just in time for the Vermont Open Studio Weekend on May 23 & 24. GIAW will be a hub for this statewide event. (Interested in joining us at the gallery for that weekend? Drop us an email!) The WORDS for 2020! Art pieces will be auctioned off during July. Winners will be announced on July 29, 2020.
Join us for our WORDS for 2020! Artist Reception & Silent Auction on Wednesday, July 8 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and of course, the art work!
Proceeds from this WORDS for 2020! auction will go to one of these organizations – Artist’s choice!
