MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW!

There will be two art shows at the gallery this summer, the first being a show of turned wood, called Turning Vermont, A Show of Wood.  This show will start on June 24th and run until July 30th.  There will be an artists reception for wood turners, wood turning enthusiasts and all others on Wednesday, July 12 from 4:00 to 7:00.  There will also be frequent woodturning demos throughout the show – occurring mostly on weekends.

A second art show will take place in August, starting on August 1st and running until September 15th.  The show title is Heartfelt Vessels for Peace and will feature pottery items created by students from the Across the Grain Pottery Studio in South Hero.  An artist’s reception on Thursday, August 10th occurs from 4:00 to 7:00.  All are welcome.

There will be a silent auction associated with each of these art shows where show artists will donate an item to be auctioned off.  All the proceeds from these auctions will be donated to the World Central Kitchen, chef José Andrés for his work in Ukraine and in Turkey.

Hello 2022!

Snow is on the ground.  The air is COLD.  Winter is here!

Grand Isle Art Works

We are open once again.

Our winter hours will be: Thursday – Sunday, 11-4:30 pm.  As always we will add days through the coming months until we are open 7 days per week in June.

Think of GIAW as your warm spot to recharge by soaking in the vibrant colors of our Vermont art work.  We represent over 65+ Vermont artists.

As I look out over our field with all this new snow, it is hard to believe there is a lake out there…somewhere! The lake has been on my mind.  The gallery is surrounded by the lake.  I worry that significant changes are coming to our island landscape.  Between global warming, ground runoff and humans being humans, the lake needs our help.  Folks everywhere need to understand what a great body of water our Lake Champlain is.  It is the 6th great lake in the United States!  No small feat of nature.  It was an inland sea and it still contains the world’s oldest coral beds on Isle LaMotte. In honor of the Lake, I invite you to submit artwork that will bring our lake into real focus for ourselves and our island visitors.  We’d love you to be part of our August Art Show: Lake Champlain: Waves of Change

Consider adding your art to this show.  We had a great turnout for last year’s show, Art in a Time Like This, COVID-19.  Each artist in the show can add approximately 1-4 art pieces, each with a description card as to the artwork’s connection to Lake Champlain. The show will begin August 1st  and will continue throughout the month.  Jim and I hope you will consider taking part. I will send out more specific show information soon.
