Helping Small Businesses
Grand Isle Art Works is a small business. When something like Tropical Storm Irene passes through, I cannot imagine what a small business can do…
The devastation and the costs to continue are so high – in people hours and money.
Grand Isle Art Works was lucky – for this storm we sat high upon a rock in the middle of the lake. Not so lucky were our small business friends in other parts of the state. In fact, one of our very own artists, potter, Jeremy Ayers is working hard to reclaim his studio and working space in Waterbury.
Help us help them by donating to the www.VTIreneFund.org/donate/
Thank you!
Wondering what to do when Irene moves on?
Don’t despair –
The First Annual Green Chile Roast is scheduled for 8:00-5:00 on September 4th at our very own kitchen door café! Chiles are being flown in from Hatch, New Mexico. Look for Green Chile burgers and Shrimp Coronado. Start your day with Huevos Rancheros. YUM!
Looks like it could be a chile weekend – keep those chills away – you can take 10% off one warm and wooly gallery item of your choice!
Happy and Sad
It is true. The FISH bench has a new home.
Last night was the auction for all 16 of the Take a Seat in the Islands’ benches. The community hall was full in North Hero with folks sipping and noshing! The auction was great fun. Seeing all the benches in one place was great – they were all so very different! The Fish bench was in the final third of the auction – the crowd was warmed up and it was obvious the Holiday Harbor folks were in it for the long run! The bench went home with them.
Jim and I chatted for a bit and found out how excited they were to have the bench at Holiday Harbor Motel. They have been renovating the rooms in the motel and wanted this as a conversation piece in the newest area. You might guess that the Holiday Harbor Motel attracts LOTS of fishermen and women! We plan to go have a look-see sometime soon! You should, too!
