Hello
I purchased a beautiful set of cheese boards. The name on the back is The sculpted tree. Unfortunately when strawberries were place on them they stained the finish. Any suggestions as to how to remove would be most helpful. Thanks
I have contacted the maker of the boards – once he replies I will forward his info to you. I am also a woodworker so this info might help – In the meantime you could try washing the board with soap and water – once dry you will find that the fibers of the wood have been raised and the surface is rough. Sand with 400 or 600 grit sandpaper to smooth the wood and apply a mixture of bees wax and mineral oil. (1/3 wax, 2/3 oil)
This what the maker said: – From my experience at home, I’ve occasionally had this happen. I use the coarse side of a kitchen sink sponge and scrub aggressively while water is running onto it from the faucet. It doesn’t always come out right away, but with subsequent washings the red color fades. If it’s too much of a nuisance, get out a piece of 220 or Fine grit sandpaper and scrub the area. Then apply more finish. I finish the plates with beeswax and mineral oil blend. The product Howard Feed n’ Wax is what I like to use for upkeep. I hope this helps!
